Scripture Union Daily Guide 30 October 2024 Outline

What are Paul’s final instructions concerning the following?
(a) How to treat leaders (vs.I2-13, 25).
(b) How to handle disorderly members (v.I4).
(c) Discouraged members; weak and immature members (vs.I4, 16).
(d) Those who wrong us (v.Is).
(e) Gifts of the Spirit (vs.19-21).
(f) Prayer (vs..7, 18, 25).

These verses are of the theme on “how you ought to walk to please God” which we read few days ago (4:1). They ar not instructions on hoy to be born again but how those who are already believers should live their lives and how to conduct their affairs as a community of God’s people. (See Titus z:8).

Take another look at v.26. How should this be best understood today? This is a good example of how not to take every word of the Bible literally but learn how best to apply them in our present-day situations.

Most of the members of the Early Church could not read or write by themselves (v.2). We who can do
both are highly privileged, and we should use these abilities to build up ourselves and others in the Holy Scriptures.

Practice/Word Application
So what? Which of these do you find most relevant to the current situation in your church? How
about you personally?

Closing Prayer
Give thanks in all circumstances … (vI8). Do that now and always.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
