TOPIC: WHEN GOD SEEMS SILENT
OPENING PRAYER: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.
SCRIPTURE: PSALM 83:1-18

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide – 3 December 2024 Outline:

The Psalm describes how a coalition of ten Gentile nations plotted to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. See vs.5-8 to identify the ten nations.
Asaph was troubled because the Lord had said nothing through His prophets and done nothing to stop the huge confederacy from advancing against His people (v.1). These were God’s enemies, attacking God’s people to destroy them and take possession of their land (v.12). These enemies came against Israel from every direction.

This is similar to what is happening to Christians around the world today. Christians are being attacked, and terrorists from outside are invading indigenous Christian-dominated territories with impunity. Lives are lost; churches, schools, farmlands, etc. are being destroyed and it seems God is silent.

Read vs.9-11 again. See how the psalmist recounts the past victories of God against other nations and calls on Him to do it again. This is a really important biblical principle: remember the works of God! In the most challenging situations of life, when all hopes seem lost, remember what God has done in the past. He is the unchanging God.
