Joel Osteen Daily Devotional — 13 JANUARY 2025
Topic: Release the Gifts
Scripture: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. – 1 Peter 4:10, NIV
Today’s Word
God has placed gifts and talents inside each of us for the purpose of serving others. Too often we have gifts lying dormant because we’re not taking time to develop them. We’re not being disciplined to study, to grow, to get better. We have talent that’s underutilized because we’re comfortable. We don’t want to stretch and do something out of our routine. We think, “I’m doing good enough.” But good enough is not your destiny.
Sometimes we’re stuck because we’re intimidated. We let thoughts of fear and doubt talk us out of it. “You can’t take that management position. You can’t teach that Bible study. You haven’t trained your voice so you can’t join the worship team.” All the “what if” thoughts come. “What if you try and fail?
What if you get up there and you’re embarrassed?” But what if you get up there and you succeed, go to a new level, or set a new standard for your family? Don’t let fear keep you from your destiny. Start stretching and taking steps of faith to release the gifts that God has put in you.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for what You have called me to do and for the gifts and talents You have given me to fulfill my destiny. Thank You for the privilege of serving others and making the most of what You’ve given me. I declare that I will not let fear hold me back from releasing my gifts. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
When God entrusts us with a dream, that means He intends to fulfill it. What dream or vision has God given you?
Jesus said in John 14, “The prince of this world comes and he has no power over me.” I’m not saying you won’t have difficulties, things that are not fair. The prince of this world will come; that’s the enemy. But you can say like Jesus, “He has no power over me. I know a secret; he’s already been defeated.” We didn’t defeat him; Jesus defeated him. But because we belong to Christ, His victory is our victory. Because He lives, we can live. Because He rendered him powerless, we can walk in freedom.
When David went out to face Goliath, he could have been intimidated, afraid, wondering what he was going to do. But all of a sudden, he felt strength that he’d never felt, courage, ability. He picked up that rock and slung it with such force and such accuracy that it knocked Goliath to the ground, unconscious. How could that happen? God gave him strength, ability, favor to do what he couldn’t do on his own.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that when I make a mistake and bring trouble upon myself, You cover me with mercy and give me second chances. Help me to remember Your compassion and that I am still Your child when I mess up. I believe You will get me to where I’m supposed to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
