The war between David and Goliath was far deeper and beyond the physical realm . There is more to it from the spiritual angle.

Wars, in ancient terms, were not seen as merely human affairs. It was also a conflict between the gods of the two opposing sides. It is not surprising, therefore, that Goliath invoked his gods in cursing David (v.43). Enemies of Israel always assumed that Israel’s God was similar to their gods.

Examples included Pharaoh (Exodus 5:1-2, 8), the Philistines (1 Samuel 5:10-12), and the commander of the armies of Sennacherib the King of Assyria (2 Kings 18:32b-35). They always discovered too late how wrong they were!
The giant was invoking the powers of his gods while David was overriding these powers in the name of the Lord.

From Eph6:12-18, As a Christian who is your enemy and how do you fight your enemies? Satan and demons are our enemies and we do not fight them with physical weapons but with God’s weapons ie: Salvation ( ensure you are truly born again before you engage satanic forces, feed and soak your spirit with the Word of God and live your life daily by the Word of God, live righteously, always pray in the Spirit, make soul winning your business etc.

And so: Internalize this verse for a victorious warfare: Eph6:12-13,” For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”

WEEK OF SACRIFICE CONTINUES
“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing” 2 Samuel 24:24

THANK GOD FOR:
‣ How far God has been helping members to give towards the work of the Union through sacrifice
‣ Helping others to do menial jobs to support the week’s event

PRAY AGAINST:
‣ Brethren to first present their bodies in holiness unto God and spend time praying
‣ God to help you encourage others to read their Bible and also give for S.U. work.
‣ Members becoming too used to Week of Sacrifice that, they do not participate at all.
‣ A good sacrifice that will cost you something.
