Scripture Union Daily Guide – 13 November 2024 Outline

This vision commences the prophetic ministry of Daniel. Amazed at God’s deliverance from the lions’ den, Daniel continued his devotion in a deeper way which prompted God to show him a glimpse of what would happen in the future.

The four beasts he saw in his vision represent four kingdoms that will rise from the earth. These are powerful kingdoms that ruled the world and had great power and influence on God’s people (the Jews and Christians). With all their power and influence, they came to an end. “The Ancient of Days” (vs.9-12) is the Almighty God Himself who rules over the kingdoms of men and gives power to whoever He wills. This should encourage us as believers that our God is in total control over world affairs.

Read vs.13-14 (cf. Matthew 28:18-20; Revelation 11:15). Jesus often called Himself the Son of Man. Through His incarnation, death, and resurrection, He has inaugurated God’s kingdom, and through the gospel message, men from all nations are being called to obedience of faith to Him. Jesus will be enthroned as Lord and ruler over the whole earth previously misruled by the four kingdoms of men. His kingdom will never be destroyed.
